Lesson #2374 - Vinegar and More

"Pith" either means 'the essence of something', or refers to stem tissue in plants. It also, interestingly enough, means 'to sever the spinal cord of an animal so as to kill it'. Which is kind of delightful, for some reason. But the phrase is 'piss and vinegar'. Not 'pith and vinegar'. Steinbeck was so proud of coming up with that phrase he used it in multiple books. Why would the human body be full of pith? We're full of 'severing animal spinal cords'? And vinegar? Maybe your body is. I don't want to know you anymore, actually.
